One of my favorite singers, Marsha Ambrosius, just released her new video, “Stronger Than Pride,” off her upcoming album, Friends and Lovers. “Stronger Than Pride” is a remake of the 80s Sade classic of the same title. However, Marsha added a little hip-hop/soul touch to it by singing over the 90s rap song, “Come Clean” by Jeru Da Damaja.” I’m a little biased because “Stronger Than Pride” is one of my favorite songs by Sade and very few artists can cover Sade’s music or attempted to do so. Jazz artists Robert Glasper and Lalah Hathaway made an excellent effort of covering “Cherish The Day.” However I love Marsha’s approach because I’m a 90s hip-hop head.
