Happy New Year everyone!! The holidays are finally over and it’s time for us to get back to our regularly scheduled programming. However, I hope ya’ll had a very peaceful holiday season and enjoyed it to the fullest.
I have a confession to make: I hate the beginning of the new year. Hate is such a strong word.I LOATHE the beginning of the new year. Why you ask? The whole “new year, new me” bullshit. “New Year, New Me!”
The gym is overcrowded. The Facebook statuses get more pretentious than usual. Everyone is either on a diet, challenge, or detoxing the negativity from their lives as soon as the clock strikes midnight on J1. By the time MLK weekend arrives, majority of the people have already failed their resolution. New year, same old bullshit.
Instead of making new years resolutions that I barely stick to, I create a list of goals I plan to accomplish within the upcoming year. My 2015 goals include building up my brand for GrabYaJimmie, more traveling, and continue to be sexy bitch that I am..LOL.
To keep me focus on my achieving my goals, I create a vision board to act as a visual aid. I collect old magazines and have a scavenger hunt for words or images that represents my goals for the upcoming year, cut the pictures or words out of the magazine, and paste them on a poster board. The best way to complete your vision board is to envision your future, drink your fave wine, and begin creating.
Goals are more tangible when you actually write them or have a visual of what you are trying to accomplish. Hang up your list of goals and your vision board some place that is always visible. My vision board is on the wall behind my computer workstation in my bedroom. It’s the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning and the last item I see before going to bed.
Having my vision board in my bedroom is a constant reminder for me not to give up my dreams and to stop doubting myself. It’s also a power boost by having positive images and words such as empowerment, champion, and innovative as the first and last images of day to keep you optimistic about your life throughout the year and not let the negativity win.
Speaking of branding, I have so many ideas that I’ve envisioned for GrabYaJimmie.com. One of those goals is creating an interactive online talk show where we(yes you and I) discuss various topics similar to the blog. I can’t go in detail on what I am envisioning for the talk show right now but I can guarantee you will love it.
Another goal for the blog is to become more consistent with my postings. I will admit that I have difficulty in sticking to a consistent schedule and being the lone writer of this blog, getting inspired to write original content. I rather have quality posts than to have numerous posts about absolutely nothing. Going forward, I am going to attempt(keyword: attempt) to post at least two articles a week.
One last goal for the blog is to network with other bloggers and writers. I’m still relatively new to the blogosphere. Networking is critical to the success of blogging, no matter what your blogging niche. Although GrabYaJimmie.com isn’t a celebrity or porn blog, I believe it’s imperative for to reach out to your peers if you want to be successful. That includes attending events that cater to diverse audiences.
Two weeks into the new year, I am already looking forward to what the rest of the year has in store for me personally and professionally. Maybe this year I will finally get to go to a nude beach and let my junk hang without any care in the world. At the very least, GrabYaJimmie.com will build a massive following and I will able to speak on a panel at gay pride events. Wishful thinking I know.
